We’re Roaster of the Year 2025!
Friends. We’ve got news. We’ve been awarded «Roaster of the Year 2025» by crema Schweiz – what an honour. Read on to know how we stood out what this title means.

Have you already gotten wind of it in the latest issue of the crema Schweiz Magazine?
Well, yes. It is true.
miró manufactura de café is «Roaster of the Year 2025». Whoop!
In Switzerland, this is one of the most important awards a roastery can receive, says Heiko Heinemann, editor-in-chief of crema Schweiz. «For the scene, it is a signal of who is currently setting standards.»
«The award also carries weight beyond the country’s borders: the specialty world is interconnected, so it is noticeable who holds this title.»
Heiko Heinemann, editor-in-chief of crema Schweiz
In comparison to similar acknowledgements, it could be compared to a culinary guide like Gault-Millau – but for roasters, Heinemann says: «It is a recurring seal of quality, awarded independently, and it shows that something of the highest standard is happening here.»
A jury made up of independent coffee professionals and specialist journalists – including people who have been cupping, writing and observing the scene for years – has decided on the awarding.
From the outset, Heinemann says, the idea behind this was to raise the profile of the Swiss roasting scene and honour its best representatives. «The aim is to highlight the diversity, quality and attitude behind coffee.» In recent years, names such as Rast Kaffee, Turm Kaffee, Henauer and Blaser have been at the top of the list.
But first things first: how and according to what criteria was miró selected in the first place?

«We’ve observed Swiss roasters not just with a single tasting, but throughout the whole year. It’s not about the one perfect espresso, but about how consistently a roastery performs over a longer period of time», Heinemann explains. Specifically, this means that they had ordered coffee from different roasters several times, tested and evaluated it – not only the taste in the cup, but also how the delivery is handled, how well thought-out the packaging is and how fairly the green coffee is purchased. «This gave us a fairly honest overall picture.»
«This mixture of down-to-earthness and a willingness to experiment is what makes miró so special.»
Heiko Heinemann, editor-in-chief crema Schweiz
What set us apart from other roasters according to the crema editor-in-chief is the history of miró itself – from small “fish tank” in the heart of Zurich moving on to a coffee truck and now several locations all over the city with an evergrowing team of over 40 people. «But the decisive factor was the attitude: from the very start, miró has been uncompromising in their commitment to specialty coffee, respecting the work of the producers and continuing their vision with their own roasting. At the same time, the Sanchez brothers have managed to make specialty coffee accessible. There are the classics that everyone loves, and alongside them exciting micro-lots for the real nerds.»
«Uncompromising quality, a genuine commitment to fair partnerships with coffee producers – combined with organic growth through word of mouth – make miró manufactura de café a worthy winner of the title of Roaster of the Year 2025.»
